We’re more than just the founders of Forged in Thread – the only apparel brand giving all profits back to the knife community – we’re lifelong knife fanatics. One of the greatest joys of this hobby is discovering new makers as they carve their unique place in the community. And nothing accelerates that journey like a table at Blade Show Atlanta. One weekend there can launch a maker’s career in ways a year on social media never could.
But getting there – especially for new makers and those outside the U.S. – can be tough. That’s why we created The Frontier Award: a cash prize designed to help up-and-coming knifemakers make it to Blade Show.
Every year, the cycle starts with us raising funds at our table in Atlanta, selling pieces from our collection, running raffles, and taking donations from makers and collectors worldwide. Every dollar raised goes to the Frontier Award pool, a cash prize designed to help pay for travel and living expenses that come from attending the show. Additionally, thanks to the generosity of our friends at Blade Show, the FrontierAward recipient(s) will be given space at a dedicated tableto showcase and sell their work.
Early in the year we will open applications and nominations, and we will award the prize in time for the winner to make plans to attend the upcoming Blade Show Atlanta.
The knife community has given us so much, this Award is just another way for us to give back. So, follow our socials, join the fun, and help us forge the future of the knifemaking community.

Frontier Award rules:
Applicants must be first time Blade Show attendees.
Applicants must provide access to their work via social media or shared imagery.
Applicants must follow @forgedinthread on Instagram
Applicants must submit their application via the Contact form on www.forgedinthread.com no later than March 21, 2025.
The winner will be chosen by and at the sole discretion of the founders of Forged in Thread.
The winner will be assigned a table location in the exhibit hall by the Blade Show staff upon arrival in Atlanta.
IMPORTANT: The winner must get themselves to Atlanta for Blade Show in order to receive the cash portion of the prize, which will be awarded in-person by a member of Forged in Thread upon the winner arriving in Atlanta.
